Every now and then I get sucked into the internet and click through to some pretty amazing things. Occasionally I like to track them, for posterity or others who are interested in the same things I am.
I began with Poetry International Web’s newest article on Colombian Poetry which reminded me that I’ve always wanted to go to the International Poetry Festival in Medellín and this year is their twentieth year. Sadly the dates are in direct conflict with something else I need to do, but I checked out the invited poets anyways. I looked at their Dominican Republic poet Rei Barroa and then checked out their Chilean poet Verónica Zondek. This very cool project that hosts her page, las afinidades electivas (elective affinities) has pretty substantial lists of poets for a number of Latin American countries (though the US page is a bit under-populated and strangely selected). I stayed with Chile for a moment and chceked out Leo Lobos entry, which ends with a link to a fantastic journal Rattapallax. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the Rattapallax people when I was in Chile for the Neruda centennial in 2004, and hadn’t been to their site in a while, so I went and checked out their projects. And opened up POeP! which is an interesting publication, but what really excited me about it is the free publication software they’re using, Issuu. What a great, simple tool! It makes me wonder if online publication can’t actually hold its own against print… These spreads look great, and the interface is really easy to use. I’m playing around with it a bit more, but so far, I’m a fan.

De vez en cuando soy aspirado por Internet y hago clic a través de algunas cosas muy sorprendentes. De vez en cuando me gusta hacer su seguimiento, para la posteridad o de otros que están interesados en las mismas cosas que yo.
Empecé con el artículo más reciente Poetry International Web de poesía colombiana, que me recordó que siempre he querido ir al Festival Internacional de Poesía en Medellín y este año es su vigésimo año. Lamentablemente las fechas están en conflicto directo con otra cosa que tengo que hacer, pero he visto a los poetas invitados de todos modos. Miré a República Dominicana al poeta Rei Barroa y desprotegido su poeta chilena Verónica Zondek. Este proyecto muy bueno que aloja su página, Las afinidades electivas tiene listas muy considerables de poetas de varios países de América Latina (aunque la página de EE.UU. es de baja población y extrañamente seleccionado). Me quedé con Chile por un momento y mire la entrada de Leo Lobos, que termina con un enlace a una revista fantástica: Rattapallax. Tuve el placer de conocer a algunas de las personas Rattapallax cuando estuve en Chile por el centenario de Neruda en 2004, y no había visitado su sitio en un tiempo, así que me fui y revisé sus proyectos. Y abrí Poep! lo que es una publicación interesante, pero lo que realmente me entusiasma es el software de publicación gratuita que está usando: Issuu. ¡Qué gran herramienta! Esto me hace preguntarme si la publicación en línea en realidad no puede afirmarse frente a la opción de imprimir … Estos márgenes parecen grandes, y la interfaz es muy fácil de usar. Estoy jugando un poco más, pero hasta ahora, soy un fan.
